The property was an old period cottage and the brief was a full Solar PV installation including battery storage maximising energy generation whilst preserving the look of the property as far as possible. Not that easy with large solar panels! We worked with the customer to look at their average energy usage and then attended site to calculate the number of solar panels needed to generate the amount of energy required. Due to the proximity of the property, we were able to use the rear roof elevation for 3 panels and a further 5 on the lean-to roof at the side of the property which caught the sun for most of the day and therefore maximized energy generation.

The cottage is very small and the consumer unit was sited on a small stairwell at the front of the property. In larger properties, the inverter and battery can be located internally or in a loft space but this was not possible. We worked with our suppler “Fox ESS” and utilised their inverter and battery storage products suitable for external use and sited the equipment at the rear of the property.      

A suitable scaffold was erected so the job could be undertaken safely and the installation was completed. From the front of the property, there is almost no sign of a solar installation which is what the customer wanted and the energy generated is already covering a large proportion of energy required.

Finally the site was registered with Fox and on our installer app so that we can monitor the operation of the installation for the customer.
